i-Rounds® utilizes advanced encryption and user authentication algorithms to provide the highest level of privacy and confidentially for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). All users must obtain a unique username and password to access and use the system. All user logins and transactions are recorded to provide the highest level of compliance with the standards set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Synchronization of Personal Digital Assistants (“PDAs”) or handheld computers is no longer necessary. Real-time communication via these devices is now accomplished through a wireless network. All patient data is maintained on the i-Rounds® server and is not stored on the end-user’s device. Consequently, laptops and PDAs that are lost or stolen will not compromise the privacy and confidentiality of patient information. Since i-Rounds capabilities can be delivered anywhere over the Internet via a Web browser, no software installation or upgrades (other than basic software maintenance) are required on the end-user’s device.
